i'm so thankful.

hey everyone!

i just got back from the winter meeting in dallas texas for the VCYC of the AME Zion Church. I loved the meeting. I was so blessed! I sang in the mass choir which is called the C.R. Thompson Mass Choir. We sang so many songs that just ministered to my spirit. I was full already because my life had undergone a lot of changes in the past month or so but I'm still blessed. Some of my favorite songs would be God Favored Me. The lyrics say: Love is patient caring love is kind. Love is felt most when its genuine but I've had my share of love abused. Manipulated and its strength misused. But I can't help but give YOU glory when I think about my story. And I KNOW YOU FAVORED ME because my enemies did TRY but DIDN'T TRIUMPH over me! Yes they DID TRY but didn't TRIUMPH OVER ME! They whispered, conspired, they told their lies, God favored me. My character, my integrity, my faith in God, He favored me. I speak life and prosperity and I speak health God favors me. Will not fall, will not bend, won't compromise God favors me. I LOVE THAT SONG! It is definitely my testimony and I will praise God for his favor no matter what. Victory is in the View! Not in the promise but in God's past performance. Just look back to where God has brought you from and imagine where you would be if the Lord wasn't on your side!

Another one of the songs that really spoke to me was a song written for one of our directors in a time in his life when he felt like giving up on God and everything in life. This is also a testimony of mine. The lyrics say: I have so much to be thankful for! So much to be thankful for and I don't have the right to be silent again. I'll praise him! This Mid-Winter Meeting taught me so much and I will carry all of those lessons into the New Year! God hasn't brought me this far to leave me alone and I know that if something is going to come out of me it has to be in me!

i'm almost there.

hey guys!

today has been a pretty good day. we got wireless and digital cable installed this morning so i'm having a great time pausing and recording live television for the first time in my life! i know for most people that's been a reality for quite a while but i'm glad that we have it now.

i've finished all of my christmas shopping and i went to the store today to get all of the ingredients needed to make my famous chocolate chip and sugar cookies from scratch for christmas. i love christmas time it makes me feel warm and fuzzy. i will be leaving for dallas texas this saturday for VCYC which is my denomination's national youth conference for christian education. i love going because the spirit of the Lord is very much alive there and I love singing in the HUGE youth choir. i'm not sure how good my singing actually is but i love being apart of it.

I also went to see the princess and the frog last night. i LOVED it. the movie was way better than i thought it would be. tiana's character was well played and the songs were great too. i think the whole thing was well cast. i started downloading some of the soundtrack today and one of my favorite songs in the whole movie was 'i'm almost there' i liked it so much that i gave this post that title.

anyone who knows me well knows that i went through a very tough time this past semester and had problems with my roommates toward the end which led me to move out. but even though the situation stressed me out thoroughly i learned a lot from it. some of the top things were:

1. take things at face value - never expect anything from people because most of the time you will no doubt be disappointed but every once in a while you may be pleasantly surprised

2. not everyone is your friend - you can't expect everyone to like you all of the time but despite that fact you must try your best to be a friend to everyone despite what they do and even if there is conflict you must try your best to make peace with them no matter what *matthew 5:23-24*

3. know that the world is not always going to revolve around you - your family will love you and possibly sometimes spoil you but the world isn't going to do that no matter what you think. you will be treated just like everyone else and no one owes you anything.

4. KNOW THAT JESUS IS ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU NO MATTER WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH - God has shown his favor to me along with his grace and mercy. this situation was very tough to get through but he made a way for me to have somewhere to stay and somewhere to leave my things and friends to help me through. no matter what he will always help you.

just a few thoughts from today i thought i would post. if you're reading this whoever you are i hope you have a blessed holiday and happy new year

dreaming with a broken heart.

hey to anyone out there.

i'm sitting in my room listening to john mayer 'dreaming with a broken heart' and anyone who knows me knows that john mayer is definitely my sad music. which must mean that i'm in a funky mood or am thinking about something and am inevitably trying to make myself more depressed. i went to church today because it was my first sunday back from college for break. it was a good service everything was good. from the singing to the message. i love going to my church its amazing the feeling you get just from being around the people that you love...

i am currently praying for the healing of the heart that can only come from God above. i have been broken for the past semester and God is the only one who can get me back together again. i spent most of this past semester looking for love from other sources that couldn't come close to the love that God has been ready willing and waiting to give me. i have been running from him looking to others because i thought that they could fill me but they only let me more empty than i was when i came to them. i had a 'friend' for about a month of the fall semester. we had good times and loads of good conversation but i was looking to him for something that he could never give me. total fulfillment and i jumped into the relationship with my eyes shut and ignoring any sign that would tell me otherwise.

i have come to realize that real love and true love can only come from God in heaven and if you are lucky here on earth God will send you a man or woman after His own heart who he has ordained to be with you and love you. i used to cry at night and wonder why i had no one to call my own but i have to remember that God is giving me this time to work on myself and to become the best woman for the man that He has in store for me. i have to keep believing that and keep praying for him to send that person into my life when he sees fit. because in everything God's timing is perfect and every good and perfect gift even a boyfriend, even a husband, even a friend comes from the Lord!

Love April May June.

i'm just me...

hey anyone who's out there!

this is my first official post on my blog. i'm excited as to what this blog will bring. i think it will bring out a certain catharsis that i need in my life. i will blogging in general about my life and all that that means. i know that might not be too terribly exciting but this blog will be what it is...just me. i guess i could put a little bit about me in this post since this is a blog about me and my life. well what can i say? i love to read, eat mexican food with my friends and sorority sisters, listen to whatever music strikes my fancy, bake for people, learn to cook (that's definitely a work in progress), hang out with my friends family and sorority sisters, open up to new people and cultivate new relationships, go to CCF (campus christian fellowship - my campus ministry at truman where i go to school), singing, and ultimately dancing (i don't know how well though lol).

I think this is going to be a fun project. I commit to blogging every day even if it is really short. i think this is something i need to do for me and i think it will be a good thing. almost like a public diary lol *bites finger nails* wish me luck if you're reading whoever you are.
